Nothing makes a home smell better than the enticing aroma of homemade bread. And with the Kenwood BM450 Bread Maker, all the hard work is done for you – you can sit back and enjoy the compliments. The attractive, stainless steel bread maker from Kenwood has some innovative features, and the sleek stainless steel and black machine reflects attention to detail. Why use a bread maker instead of baking your loaves from scratch? The Kenwood BM450 can save families time, energy and money. One great feature is the delay start option, which allows busy cooks to prearrange the bread making process 15 hours in advance. This could be done in the early morning to enjoy a dessert bread in the evening, or set up right after supper to enjoy warm bread in the morning.

Other notable features include the ability to create and save up to 5 customized programs as the user discovers favourites to make frequently. There are 15 different programs available to make bread, jams, cakes, and various types of dough. The rapid bake feature bakes a loaf in 58 minutes. If the power goes out briefly, the Kenwood BM450 Bread Maker will resume baking after an eight-minute outage.

Design

The bread maker is sleek and attractive with a black finish. The body material is made of stainless steel. It is light enough to move easily, steel and glass. The lid can be removed and it has a viewing window and an interior light. Dimensions are approximately 15 inches high by 9.5 inches wide x 12.5 inches deep (38.5 x 23.5 x 31.5 cm). It weighs about 20 pounds (9.5 kg) so it can be moved easily within the kitchen.

Controls

The control panel has a display window and a status indicator to tell the user whether it is kneading, rising or baking. You may choose the crust colour by selecting light, medium or dark. This is also where you select the program, the favourite buttons, rapid bake, loaf size, and start and stop the baking process.

With a press of the button, the viewing light can be used to check the progress of the dough, and the light turns off automatically after one minute. The ingredients are dispensed at proper intervals to ensure even distribution. If manual addition of ingredients is required for a particular recipe, the bread maker beeps to notify the user when to add the items.

Recipes and Guarantee

The manufacturer provides a variety of recipes and a user manual. Families can also purchase bread mixes from the grocery store to simplify baking even more. The more accomplished cook can adapt treasured recipes to be used with the machine. The Kenwood BM450 Bread Maker comes with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Compared to other bread makers on the market, the Kenwood BM450 is sleeker-looking and more stylish in appearance. If your kitchen has stainless steel appliances, you may prefer this bread maker to other brands, most of which are white in colour. The unit stays cool, keeps the bread warm for up to an hour, and is relatively quiet. The only potential disadvantage observed is that some bread makers have a 13 hour delay rather than 15 hours. Whether this difference would matter depends upon your household schedule. Overall, the Kenwood BM450 Bread Maker should be an asset to any family that enjoys fresh, hot, homemade bread.

I purchased a kenwood breadmaker from Amazon on 15-6-2011 it came in a sealed carton but there was no user manual or recipes enclosed which means I can only bake a basic loaf. Could you supply me with these please.–my address is:–69 Bentinck Ave, Blackpool, FY41SD

Just bought one of these a few days ago, looks great unlike my previous panasonic 257 white blob!!! baked 4 loaves so far including a fruity loaf using the dispenser, all turned out perfect. the paddle does leave a small dent in the bottom of the bread but no worse than any other machine, great product highly recommended… oh yes and the bread is delicious!!!

The Kenwood BM450 has been a great addition to my kitchen appliances. Each day we enjoy a fresh loaf and they are getting better now I am having the confidence to experiment. One issue however causes frustration. The paddle!!! Each time a loaf is removed, bread sticks to the paddle and leaves a gaping hole in the base of the bread. Hopefully someone can offer advice on a remedy.
